Drum Performance (5 days) provides technical skills, musical knowledge and performing experience that prepares students for a wide range of professional and creative opportunities as performing musicians. Drum Performance instruction includes fundamental reading skills for drum set, from basic rhythmic figures to full charts, in-depth reading studies focused on time signatures, subdivisions and rhythm interpretation, performance classes with guitar and bass accompaniment, coordination drills to improve time, feel, independence and sound. This course includes music theory, ear training, music history, and understanding of different styles. Repertoire draws from simple contemporary pieces and melodies accompanied with chords. Mastery of the material will be demonstrated through written assignments. Every day class attendance and daily practice (2 hours) are expected. This course is designed for students who wish to develop contemporary music performance skills. Regardless of your ability level, you'll get plenty out of the programme, although we do recommend you have a minimum of six months’ playing experience to fully benefit.
